Enjoy Prague’s wonderful Christmas atmosphere

The main markets in Prague are open from the 2nd December 2023until the 6th of January 2024 this season. The main Christmas markets in Prague are held at the Old Town Square. They are open daily from 10am to 10pm. 

The markets have become an integral part of the Christmas holidays in Prague. Come and experience the magical atmosphere and enjoy a variety of traditional drinks and food. 

The Christmas markets at the Old Town Square are certainly the most famous. The markets are centered around a huge decorated Christmas tree, which is not only visited by tourists. On weekends, Old Town Square is packed with locals enjoying the Christmas atmosphere with mulled wine in their hands.

Worth noticing is also the rich cultural program that takes place on the square practically every day. You can look forward to Christmas concerts and other interesting musical performances.

A few steps from Old Town Square towards the Charles Bridge, you will come across Small Square (Malé náměstí). Yes, it honours its name and is really small. But even its size doesn't stop it from hosting its "own" small Christmas market with a small number of stands.

In the Old Town, we also recommend visiting the new Christmas market at Marian Square (Mariánské náměstí). It is being held here for the seconf time this year. It is a slightly different, non-commercial market where you can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere with the opportunity to help a good cause. The stands have been opened by different non-profit organizations and by buying Christmas decorations, jewelry or handicraft products you will not only make yourself or your loved ones happy, but you will also contribute to socially beneficial activities that you might feel passionate about too!

There is a lot to choose from in the Old Town. Enjoy a truly magical Christmas atmosphere in the centre of Prague.
